Shelly Smith is the Vice President of Community for Raleigh Metro SHRM (RMSHRM). She is responsible for overseeing the community outreach and philanthropic initiatives of the chapter, as well as fostering a community that gives back locally in the form of volunteerism, in-kind contributions, or limited financial sponsorships.  

Shelly has over 15 years of human resources experience, specializing in talent management, leadership coaching and development, employee engagement, employee relations, and organizational development. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Textile and Apparel Management from North Carolina State University and two master’s degrees. A master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Strayer University and a master’s degree in Legal Studies from Arizona State University. She is also a certified SHRM-SCP and SPHR.

Shelly is an active volunteer and advocate for several local causes in Wake County, such as Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society, Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the American Red Cross, and The Salvation Army. She has been recognized for her contributions by the Triangle Business Journal, receiving a Women in Business Award, and by Universal Womens Network, receiving a Women of Inspiration Award.

Shelly lives in Raleigh and enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate about advancing the HR profession and serving the HR community.
