We believe human resources is a catalyst for business success. That’s why, for more than 60 years, we’ve provided area HR professionals with the opportunity to connect, develop and give back. Our award-winning programming, innovative approach and invested volunteer leaders have helped us become the largest and most recognized philanthropic SHRM chapter in the state. Ultimately, we seek to elevate the practice of HR management, to equip our members to succeed and to build a community of engaged professionals who positively impact the businesses and communities they serve.

We offer exceptional programming for a wide array of professionals working in or around the HR community. Most programs are approved for HRCI and SHRM certification credit. Additionally, we provide tremendous member benefits including networking opportunities, discounted and free programs, scholarships, professional development, career resources and much more! We also strive to give back to our local community as well as the HR profession as a whole. We’re proud to partner with local philanthropic organizations, allowing our members to contribute to impactful causes by holding several events and fundraisers throughout the year.

January Monthly Meeting – Legislative and Legal Update: What to Expect in 2019

Please note the 2019 monthly meetings will be held at the NCSU University Club in Raleigh.

January 15, 2019
11:30 am – 1:00 pm

The year 2018 was an active one for legislative and legal developments in the area of employment law and employee relations. Employers saw significant developments in the areas of immigration, wage and hour and arbitration agreements.   Sexual harassment prevention and the #MeToo movement also continued to be a hot topic, impacting federal and state initiatives. Pay equity laws were reintroduced at the federal level and passed by a number of states.  In addition, a number of states and localities passed statutes or ordinances mandating sexual harassment prevention training. This session will discuss how these and other changes impact employers going forward and what employers should expect in 2019.

Emerging Leaders: I-9 101

January 30, 2019
7:45am – 8:45am

Please join your fellow HR colleagues with early career (around 0-5 years) experience and experience the feel of the new “Young Professional Network” within RMSHRM, now supporting the “Emerging Leaders” within the Triangle HR World. Here questions and challenges you face in your daily HR role will be discussed and relationships will be made through casual networking.

This event topic is I-9 101.

Every other month will be held in a happy hour setting at the Cary Carolina Ale House (and the first drink is compliments of RMSHRM).

Every three months, mentors from executive think tanks will attend as resources. As emerging leaders, we will ask for suggested topics to be addressed in the future.

There is no cost, but please RSVP.
